    • I have always loved this program but am I the only one who watched with concern and dismay as the Leylandii hedge on episode 2 was removed without any mention of the fact that it is an offence to do so during nesting season (March/April – September), due to the fact that it must be assumed that it will be concealing multiple nests which are protected under law? This was a prime opportunity to inform the general public about the wildlife act that protects our birds from nest disturbance and/or destruction (also by ‘trimming’, which people seem to love to do at this time). Not only was it a missed opportunity to educate, but worse, an irresponsible misinformation (at best) that will only stand to encourage people to follow suit, oblivious to the possible consequence to our birds, many of whom are depleting in numbers and who have plenty of other human-led problems to contend with, without encouraging those who would not deliberately choose to, adding to them ‘accidentally’. I find it all the more upsetting to see this on a program which has, so often, put itself across as being ‘wildlife friendly’. Please correct me if I am missing something here, but I am disappointed.

  1. I am now also shocked at Love Your Garden’s lack of response to any of my messages or comments on this matter via any of the communication channels I have opened. It doesn’t alleviate my worries but makes it all the worse.
