Shire Conservatories

Conservatory (1).JPG

Gina’s existing conservatory was leaking, freezing cold in the winter and roasting hot in the summer so we decided to give her somewhere much better suited to view her new garden from her house.

Shire Conservatories provided her with an anthracite coloured PVCu conservatory that was custom made to fit the existing foundations. The advanced roofing system from Ultraglaze has a blue tinted smart glass roof, which offers self cleaning properties and an anti sun coating to minimise temperature differences. Shire also replaced Gina’s garage window so that it matched the new conservatory.

Gina’s conservatory cost £8450 but conservatories from Shire start at around £5000. The replacement window to her garage was £450.

Shire offer a full range of glazing services and conservatories in Shropshire and Mid-Wales and you can find out much more at http://www.shireconservatories.co.uk/index.html#

Corten Steel Water Bowl Water Feature – Roundwood of Mayfield

Metal Bowl (1).JPG

The Corten Steel Water Bowl in the garden allowed us to follow the traditional Japanese theme of bringing the sky down into the garden. It was also symbolic in some ways of her work with the Air Ambulance and it was fitting that it formed part of the ‘thank you’ from the Air Ambulance Service for the hard work that she and Tony put in to raising funds for the service.

Roundwood of Mayfield run three divisions of their company from their base in sussex: ‘Quality Oak & Decking Products,’ ‘Oak Framed Buildings’ and ‘Home & Garden Features.’

The Water Bowl, which retails at its 80cm size for £112 is part of a huge range of quality garden features that they stock which include log burners, statues and furniture among many others.

A full picture of what they provide can be found on their website at http://www.roundwood.com/

Mid-Wales Stone – Boulders, Rocks and Pebbles

Rocks (6).JPG

The dry river bed that meanders throughout the garden could not have been as successful without the fabulous rocks and boulders from Mid-Wales Stone. They provided all the stones and pebbles, drilled a boulder for the water feature and delivered around 8 tonnes of rock to site. The local provenance and wonderful shapes were perfect for the garden and the range they have is wonderful.

Rocks (5).JPG

Their rocks start at around £180 per tonne with a number of impressive stones available at the other end of the scale.

Silver Grey Paving Squares – Bradstone – £45 per m²

Paving at the back (4).JPG

At the far end of Gina’s garden, our take on a traditional Japanese moss garden required a precisely cut, square silver paving slab to get the look perfect. Bradstone supplied us with beautiful Silver Grey paving squares that fitted the requirement exactly. Although we only used 300mm x 300mm squares in the garden, this range of granite pavers is available in three larger units which can be used as a mixed pattern or as stand alone sizes.
